Older Adult Center Overview
Located at the NYCHA Seward Park Extension development at 65 Norfolk Street, Vision Urbana’s Older Adult Center is a DFTA-funded initiative dedicated to supporting low-income, primarily Hispanic and minority older adults in Manhattan’s Lower East Side (Community District 3). Since 2016, with the ongoing support of the New York City Council, our center has served as a trusted neighborhood hub for aging New Yorkers seeking culturally responsive, comprehensive care and community engagement.
Through onsite case management and social work services, our team assists older adults in navigating NYC entitlements, accessing public benefits, securing housing support, and completing online recertifications. Bilingual staff provide vital translation assistance and ensure our services remain accessible and relevant to the needs of our multilingual community.
In addition to essential support services, the Older Adult Center offers a safe, welcoming space for enrichment and connection. Participants can engage in a variety of wellness and creative activities—including Tai Chi, sewing, and crocheting—while also attending elder abuse prevention workshops and participating in our Senior Digital Literacy Initiative, empowering them to stay safe and connected in today’s digital world.
At Vision Urbana, we believe in aging in place with dignity, empowerment, and cultural pride—values that guide every service we provide at our Older Adult Center.
